WIGGLE - Philip L., CPA
Of Amherst, September 14, 2019.

 

Dear brother of Glenn E. (Rosalie) Wiggle; loving uncle of Glenn C. (Marcy) Wiggle, great-uncle of Lily, Emma and Charles Wiggle; son of the late Charles and Nora (Holmes) Wiggle.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at UB Newman Center Chapel, 495 Skinnersville Rd., (off Sweet Home Rd.), Amherst, NY; Friday (Sept. 20th) at 10:00 AM. Please meet at chapel.

Memorial contributions to Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home and Rehab 10570 Bergtold Rd., Clarence, NY 14031 are preferred.

Mr. Wiggle was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Air Force as a Ground Radio Operator, graduated Kensington High School in 1950.  Earned a BS in Accounting from the University of Buffalo in 1959. 

He worked for the Arthur Young & Co. as an Auditor 1960 to 1963.  

Hooker Chemical Corporation, Various financial management positions, 1963 to 1970.  Phil was a problem solver and traveled from plant to plant in the US.

Wiggle & Co., Certified Public Accountants located in Amherst, NY, Founder and Managing Partner, 1970 to 1993, Phil’s brother Glenn is also a CPA and was Phil’s partner from 1977 to Phil’s retirement from public accounting in 1993).  Phil’s specialty was management advisory services, especially relating to the restaurant industry. Phil wrote a column for a restaurant industry newsletter.

Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives, Former President and Member

UB Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Mentor

Buffalo State College Hospitality and Tourism Department, Advisory Board Member

He had many interest, including:  Writing, he was a contributor to Buffalo News Everybody’s Column, wrote newsletter for CPA firm he managed, wrote articles for a national restaurant industry newsletter.  Skiing – Enjoyed the black diamond slopes at Holiday Valley and was a past member of Lederhosen Ski Club.  Tennis, Bowling, Mineralogy and prospecting, especially in his favorite vacation spot in Aspen Colorado.

Socializing with the “regulars” at Tim Horton's on Maple Road and at the Amherst Senior Citizen Center.

Phil had a rich heritage.  His decedents arrived from England in 1634, fought in the Revolutionary War (one relative served on General George Washington’s staff), helped build the Erie Canal, and another fought in the Civil War.  May 19, 2005 he attended the first International WIGGLE Family reunion in Cranham, England.  Over 100 Wiggle family members attended from all over the world.
