Of Amherst, N.Y.  Beloved husband of 31 years to Mary McFadden Sondel; Dear father of Jennifer (Patrick) McCarthy, Lisa Marie Sondel, Amy (Robert) Zielinski, MD, Juli (David) Arno, James Patrick (Heather) Sondel and the late Michael (Kimberly) Sondel; Stepfather of Susan Motiff; Loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Jim was a retired Nuclear Research Chemist for WNY Nuclear Research Center, Buffalo, NY. 

Family will receive friends at U.B. Newman Center 495 Skinnersville Rd. Amherst, NY Saturday January 10, 2026 11:30AM – 12:30PM when Memorial Mass will begin. Final resting place Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Memorials to the U.B. Newman Center are preferred.
